All Aboard the Tonteria Express

Last night myself and my lovely colleague Amelia popped along to a preview of the soon to open – tonight actually – Tonteria night club in Chelsea’s Sloane Square, courtesy of the lovely Bacchus PR. The brain child of nightlife entrepreneurs Guy Pelly and Marc Burton who first joined forces seven years ago when they were entrusted with the merry-making of VIP’s and Royals at Mahiki in Mayfair, they then went on to open Whisky Mist and ‘the late’ Public. They ‘wanted a place that would be different’ and a place that could ‘catch up with New York’ – although we are unsure yet if they’ve quite achieved this we’ll be able to report once the new watering hole is in full swing.

The exotic Mexican inspired cocktail bar and restaurant, with photobooth and tequila shot train, promises to be a popular hangout among the Sloane’s of London and of course the celebs flocking in and out of the city. The venue is small (half the size of Mahiki) with atmosphere being close and intimate. Never mind the space though; it’s all about the location! In its prime spot next to the Botanist on the corner of the square, it is sure to reel in the party-goers.

We girlies plan to spend a lot more time getting to know this new little gem and wish Guy and Marc the best of luck in their newest venture! Just make sure the bar is always filled in order to avoid mishaps like the dry bar by 8pm last night – always better to have too much than not enough!

Tonteria will be open to the public from Friday 26th October with Tequila and Tapas on tap!
